Editorial policy and corrections

An outdated tariff suggests a return that no longer exists; an invented system price distorts the payback time. Here is where our data comes from and what we do when something is wrong.

Responsibility

Radif Partners answers for every figure shown, every rule applied and every calculation in the calculator. A figure that does not match its source can be reported to contact@rentasolaire.fr.

Primary sources first

  • PVGIS, European Commission Joint Research Centre, for output;
  • Enedis, consumption profile coefficients (Licence Ouverte 2.0), for self-consumption;
  • Légifrance for tariff orders, the planning code and the VAT order; the CRE for its deliberations;
  • the Tarif Bleu grid for electricity prices; Service Public for formalities;
  • the French administrative boundaries API for communes.

Estimates are labelled as such

No public body publishes the average price of a home system or a plug-in kit in 2026. The site therefore shows benchmarks found by a private comparison site on real quotes, with their source and period, under the word “estimate”, and always lets you enter your own price. A figure no source can establish is not published; a future tariff is shown as “yet to be published”.

Checks before publishing

Every update reruns the engine tests (tariffs, cap, PVGIS factors, consistency of results): a failing test blocks publication. The output and self-consumption tables are rebuilt by scripts published with the site.

Update schedule

Purchase tariffs and electricity prices: with every new order or price grid, checked weekly. Price benchmarks: every six months. PVGIS output: with each new database release. The date of the last check is shown on every page.

Handling errors

  1. Check against the primary source.
  2. Fix the parameters or the code, add a test.
  3. New date on the pages concerned.
